Hi, I'm Shane Gunaratnam!
When he was young, Shane was always interested in sports and exercise and getting into physiotherapy was quite a natural process. He went on to complete his undergraduate degree at La Trobe University, in 2008, followed by his post-graduate studies in 2014.
“Physiotherapy has also allowed me to meet a range of people from a diversity of backgrounds, as well as facilitated travel and work overseas which has been really enjoyable. I enjoy doing a job that is primarily focused around helping other people and I think it is a real luxury to be in such a position and it drives me to be the best practitioner I can be.”
In 2018 he returned from the UK, having spent four years working in a leading sports medicine clinic in London, where he honed his skills and interests in the management of the shoulder, spine and persistent pain.
Shane uses a combination of education, hands-on treatment, taping, dry and exercise based rehabilitation to optimise patient outcomes. This involves formulating an individualised recovery plan that is focused on achieving both return to activity goals and prevention of future injuries.
Shane has also travelled extensively with recent highlights including trekking around Patagonia and completing the Golden Circle in Iceland.
