Hi, I'm Richard Gonsalves!

Physiotherapist at South Perth

Although born in Canada, Richard grew up in Perth and from a very young age, developed an interest in the human body and movement. He studied physiotherapy at Curtin University, graduating in 2011 as a two time member of the Vice Chancellors list.

Richard has always worked in musculoskeletal private practice and from early on in his career, he developed a diverse repertoire of skills – completing a comprehensive Pilates Instructor Program, pursuing further training in dry needling and enhancing his manual therapy skills. One of his passions is also sports physiotherapy and he has worked as the head physiotherapist for numerous soccer teams over the past 10 years.

The lure of the world sparked Richard’s travel interest and, for four years, he lived and worked as a physiotherapist in London. Whilst he enjoyed the amusing accents and travelling across Europe, the amazing sunny Perth beaches and sunsets over the Indian ocean eventually drew himself and his wife back to Perth.

Excited to be a part of the Life Ready family, Richard has a passion for helping people get to be their best version of themselves. He loves using manual therapy and active rehabilitation to achieve this and his main physiotherapy interests centre around spinal pathology (back and neck pain, headaches) and the treatment of shoulder pain. He enjoys instructing Clinical Pilates classes, aiming to provide a fun and tailored exercise approach that fits into his patient’s lifestyle. Richard also has specialist training in vestibular disorders.

Away from the clinic, you will find Richard hanging out with his family and friends, spending far too much time cooking up a storm in the kitchen and walking his miniature dachshund, Manu!
