Getting back on track after a workplace injury

A workplace injury can be stressful, both physically and emotionally and can leave you unsure of what to do next, how long you’ll be out of work and how long it may take to recover.

The workers compensation process can feel overwhelming with paperwork, reports, approvals and forms to manage, but with over 10 years’ experience guiding our clients through it, our Life Ready physiotherapists and admin team are here to support you every step of the way.

Why early physiotherapy intervention matters

Starting physiotherapy early can make a significant difference in your recovery. Following your initial assessment, our Life Ready physiotherapists work closely with you to develop a shared and goals-focused plan to:

  • Reduce pain and inflammation
  • Restore movement, strength, and function
  • Prevent the injury from becoming a long-term one
  • Support a gradual and safe return to work

Even if your workers compensation claim hasn’t yet been approved, early intervention ensures your recovery doesn’t stall. You can attend sessions privately and claim reimbursement once your claim is accepted.

How physiotherapy can help you get back on track

Physiotherapy goes beyond treating pain – our aim is to work alongside you to help you reach or return to living your best quality of life. During the workers compensation process, your physiotherapist will:

  • Conduct a thorough assessment to understand your injury and its impact on your work
  • Create a personalised rehabilitation plan tailored to your job, workload and recovery goals
  • Provide hands-on therapy and exercises or suggest Clinical Pilates or a gym rehabilitation program to help restore function
  • Offer advice on posture, ergonomics and safe ways to perform your work tasks so you have the confidence to move in your role, reducing the risk of re-injury.

Supporting your return to work

A key part of physiotherapy intervention in a workplace injury is helping you safely transition back to work. Your physiotherapist can:

  • Work with your GP, employer and insurer to coordinate your return. This includes providing effective, regular communication and progress reports
  • Recommend modified duties or gradual workload increases
  • Monitor your progress, approved treatment sessions and adapt your plan as your recovery progresses

This collaboration helps the worker’s compensation process feel more manageable, allowing you to focus on your recovery, rather than paperwork.

Starting physiotherapy early can make all the difference, so reach out to your preferred Life Ready Physio + Pilates team today to begin your recovery journey.

Please note: A GP referral is typically needed to access physiotherapy under workers’ compensation, but as we suggest, early private treatment is still an option to avoid delaying recovery.
